Why we play

When a flood washed away the equipment for a local girls' softball league, this club showed up — and rebuilt their whole season.

That is what a foursome really buys. Not a tee time, but a set of bats and gloves in the hands of kids who thought their season was over. It is a coach exhaling. It is a community catching one of its own.

The golf outing is how we fund moments like that — quietly, all year long. Your entry does not disappear into overhead. It goes to work where Rotary service is needed next, whether that is a ball field across town or, as you will see below, a clean water well halfway around the world.

Last year, we re-geared an entire girls' softball league after the flood.

New bats. New gloves. New balls. Enough for every player to take the field again — bought and delivered by The Rotary Club of Davenport, funded by golfers exactly like you.

Some of what this club funds travels farther than the Quad Cities. Wells like the one pictured here — built in rural Kenya, with Rotary members on the ground at its inauguration — bring clean water to entire villages.

The well itself is concrete and pipe. What it produces is something else entirely. Mothers who do not walk miles each morning for water. Children who do not die from waterborne disease. A community with the time, the health, and the opportunity to build.
